College Magazine Analysis: Contents Page

Graphical Analysis
  • Page is neatly divided up into six squares. There are also other squares on the page, giving it a unified theme.
  • Images are all black and white. This is aesthetically pleasing, as well as hopefully saving on coloured ink when the magazine is printed.
  • Images correspond to the text written on them, i.e. the film reel and the film reviews, the skull and the party warning guide.

Textual Analysis

  • Text is snappily written, hopefully enticing readers to read the rest of the magazine.
  • Fonts appropriate to the article are used.

College Magazine analysis: Front Cover

Graphical Analysis
  • Simple colour scheme of black, white and brick red, with occasional red added.
  • Images of graphiti help reinforce the magazine's indepentant nature.
  • Crumbling brick wall that frames the main image is symbolic of breaking out and freedom, and is also a callback to the magazine's name.

Textual Analysis

  • Main title is bold and easy to read.
  • Catchy sub-heading beneath the main text.
  • Price is in the bottom right corner, highlighted by an image. This should make it noticeable and encourage people to buy it.
